MOTOR ACCIDENT
A~ MIRACULOUS ESCAPE. A motor accident, in connection with which the occupants had a miraculous escape, occurred at Alfredton on Monday (says ..the Ekotahuna "Express"). It appears that a large number of passengers were coming in and Mr G. Jones arranged with Mr E. Sparksman to run out and pick up a load. There were some seven or eight in the car when it left Alfredton. Crossing the bridge just this side of the township the car skidded and then a tyre hurst as the car took the metal. It ran along for a short distance on the edge of the road and was almost stopped when It overturned and capsized over tho bank. It evidently turned right over, tipping' the occupants out, and landing again on its wheels. There were in the .ear Mrs W. J. Sauuders and Mrs G. Jones and sohi another lady, a returned soldier, and Mr O'Brien. .The latter jumped with Mrs Jones' child and. escaped • scqt, 'free,., : , Mrs,, xtricated from, under tlie car, having Bustained no injury. The others were not so fortunate, f-ustaining numerous severe abrasions and bruises, though n6 banes were broken. A number of Alfredton residents were quickly on-the scene and rendered aid. and the party, with the exception of Mrs Jones and child, was brought into Ekotahuna. ' ■• ! ,; '. ■
