THE WAR NEWS.
The war news received last night wad neither voluminous nor illuminating. Hp till a lato liour little information had come to hand from Russia. And what there was had practically no hearing upon the internal crisis. Ukraine, it would seem, has established a definite Republic, with a desire to live in amity with its neighbours. A new Cabinet has been formed in Hungary, and the King has agreed to the formation of a national army and to a, new commercial treaty with Austria. A message from Switzerland states that, owing to the political excitement in Germany, publb meetings have been prohibited. This is a significant commentary upon the recent speech of Baron Von Hertling, and suggests that the conntry i s sharply divided concerning the war aims. Uho Turks claim to have rectified, their lines in Palestine, and to have made an advance of two kilometres. This has not yet been coni Firmed from British sources. At , midnight no news had reached us frem the Western Front, and none from , Italy.
