BOY SCOUT CAMP

AT RIVERSDALE. About forty of the Masterton Boy Scouts will leave the Y.M.C.A. this morning for Riversdale, on the East Coast, the. property of Mr Gordon Laing, which has been kindly placed at the disposal of the boys for a fortnight. The journey (about 36 miles) will be made on foot in stages. A start will be made at 7 a.m. Mr A. P, Whatman, of "Abbotsford," will entertain the boys at lunch, and Mr Hugh Morrison, of ."Awatoitoi" will provide them with tea and breakfast and sleeping quarters in his woolshed. On Friday a halt will be made at "Blairlogie" for Mr R. Morrison to provide morning tea. Mr H. O. Toogood, of "Waiana" will supply lunch, and on arrival at "Riversdale" Mr Gordon Laing will provide tea. The boys are to be housed in Mr Laing's woolshed, which is right on the sea beach. The camp will be in charge of the following officers —Commandant. Mr S. G. Cresswell; adjutant, Mr C. D. Shoosmith; medical officer, Mr Alex Donald; quartermaster, Mr Alex Pickering. The beach is recognised as one of the safest in New Zealand, and it is expected the boys will spend a very enjoyable time. Messrs Fly, Young and Beattie have provided the troop with a comfortable brake and two horses, and these will follow up the boys on the march. It is expected the boys will arrive back in Masterton on the 16th.
