WHAT SOLDIERS WANT

The following extract from fi letter ] received•'by<J;h» Wairarapa Lady Liver- I pool Committee contaiiis some suggestions of, interest to those %rwarding parcels to the boys on active service:---"Regarding tho various articles in y&ur parcel, the Hon, Mr Mackenzie, High Commissioner, asks us to give our opinion as to the suitability of the contents. Well, all (he articles are fairly suitable, but, if we wow asked to make a, selection we would choose the following:—Milk, tinned dripping, Hour, baking powder, tea and sugHr, with perhaps a few liwtvitf or chewing .gam- included. Milk is most appreciated, while; if wo have tho dripping,. ZJoar and baking powder, \vc can make a various' as .sortment of •'kill-me-deads' which form a very welcome change of diet. These things could be seat m bulk, it being expressly Hinted that they are to be .shared out to the troops. This would save time, trouble, money and slapping space. We rue occasionally able to proeuro Hour, etc., at the can I con, and as soon as the fact becomes known, there is a, general slampcd-V after them, and the boys vie with one another in excelling in the culinary tut. It is really very surprising how expert some of the boys have become at juggling with"the frying-pan, and more surprising still that we have survived to tell the tale. Wo hope these few .suggestions will , prove helpful, to you in deciding what tho boys will most appreciate <> u this front, "and again, lot us express our heartiest appreciation of your efforts on our behalf. With every good wish for Christmas and New Year,—We remain, yours very sincerely, THE BEDOII N TJKNiT BROTHEB--11001). Troopers 15. A. W. Pierard, W, «. Feurn, L. F Lowih, L. .1. Bossiter, W. F.
