PATRIOTIC FUNDS.
Appeals are bainff made to the Patriotic Associations in Now Zealand for support to the Church Army and-the Catholic Federation, in order that these may render asswtanee to members of their creed who ale at the front. Tho Hawke's Bay Association has decided to confine its contributions to the Y.M.C.A., which is undenominational and makes.! provision, for the representatives of every religion on active ■service. Other- Associations might, with advantage, follow tlio example of Hawke's If ay. ff the funds are spread over a «lozen and one differentinstitutions, neither will receive adequate support, and the wants of the men will not he attended teas efficiently as through a single ovgauiSn+ion. Tho Church Army and tho Catholic,, are hoth excellent Institutions in their wav, hut they' have not the facilrtios for rendering aid to the soldiers that aw possessed by the Y.Ji.C.A.
