TWENTIETH REINFORCEMENTS.
A DOMINION SHORTAGE. % 'The Chairman of the Recruiting Board wired us yesterday as follows: —"The position with respect to recruiting tor the 20th Reinforcements is, on th© whole, quite satisfactory. Already several of the group areas have either provided their quota or more than their.- quota, and .indications point to the shortages now shown in the remaining groups being made good before this draft mobilises for training in the last week of tlr-s month. ' "The official figures of the enlistments for the infantry, all other arms of the service being full, as at date of. Friday, the 28th July, are as follows: —Group, No. 1, Auckland City, complete; Group No. 2, Paeroa, shortage 5; Group No. 3, Whangarei, shortage 41; Group No. Hamilton, shortage 43; total shortage for Auckland Military District 89. Group No. 5. Wellington City, surplus 5; Group No. 6, Palmerston North, shortage 62; Group No. 7, Napier, shortage 32; Groun No. 7a, Masterton, shortage 16; Group No. 8, Hawera, shortage 48; total shortage for Wellington Military District, 153. .Group No-. 9, Christchurrh City, surplus 16; Group No. 10, Timaru, shortage 14; Group No. 11, Kaiapo', surplus 5; Group No.'lla, Grovmouth, shortage 66; Croup No. 12, Nelson, surplus 7; total shortage for Canterbury Military District, 52. Gtoup No. 13. Dnnedin Oity, slippage 12; Group No. 14, Tnvercargill, shortage 40; Group No. 15, Oanjani, shortage 8; Group No. 16, Milton, .shortage 21; total shortage for Otago Military District, 111. The total Dominion shortage for the 20th Reinforcements is 405.
