COMPULSORY PARADES
ACTION BY EMPLOYERS' ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Wairarapa Employers' Association was held in tho Exchange Buildings, Masterton, on Tuesday evening, to consider an in■vitation received from Major Oss bourne-Lilly to discuss the question of fixing a suitable dato to hold daylight parades of Territorials and Cadets of the various companies with their headquarters in Masterton. "There wore present:—Messrs J. Cas--elberg (chair), J. L. Murray, R. Brown, F. mitten, J. Alpass, E. Jamieson, E. H. Waddington, •). H. Gledstono, J. Milne, T. J. Thompson, C. S. Graham, 1). A. Pickering, H. Read, A. Hathaway, A. I). Low, Major Osbourne-Lilly, Capt. Sharp, and Lie - .:t. Drew. Major Osbourne-Lilly informed tho meeting that, under the Defence Act, it was compulsory for Territorials to hold either twelve half-day parades or six full day parados, and rCadcts six half-day parades or three full day parados, during the year. To ob'tain the best results it was advisable to hold full day parades. Ho asked tho employers present to fix -the most suitable day for the neces--snry parades. It was resolved that the days for the parades for Territorials should he alternate Thursdays and Saturdays in each month, and that the day for Cadet parades should be Thursdays. It was also resolved that a, circular to forwarded to all employers in "Masterton, advising them of the result of tho meeting, which termi--nated with a hearty vote of thanks to Major Osbourne-Lilly and the De"fence Department for their consideration to employers in having consulted them as to a suitable dato for the compulsory parades under the Defence Act.
