DARDANELLES WOUNDED.
When the New Zealand Avar correspondent was despatched, it is understood that ono of his instructions was that ho must make no record whatever of complaints, bungles, or mistakes. So far, he has complied strictly with' the specifications. Tt will come as a shock to New ZeaTanders, therefore.
to learn from the London "Times" that tho fLvst batch of wounded soldiers from tho Dardanelles were shamefully treated on tho transports. They were crowded together, with insufficient doctors and orderlies, and on their arrival at Alexandria they were left For three days without attention. Tho publication of the facts appears to have created ;i painful sensation in England. The Imperial authorities were, of course, entirely to blame for the bungling. It seems extraordinary that neither Mr Malcolm Ross nor any of tho wounded soldiers should have mentioned this matter in their correspondence.
