CLEARING SALE. Messrs Abraham & Williams Ltd. Levin, report having held a high'y successful clearing sale of stock, implements etc., on account of the Estate of the late Herbert Hodge at TeHoro on Tuesday last. There was a particularly large attendance of the public, * buyers being present from the Wairarapa, Hawkesi Bay and Feilding districts as well as from the whole of the Horowhenua Countly. The stock came forward in good order and condition, and all lines were eagerly sought after, Lidding iright through-Cut being most spirited. The forward cattle and the breeding ewes were exceptionally keen. The following is a list of the prices. Sheep: 2-tooth ewes in lamb to S. D. rams 22/10; 4 and 6 tooth ewes in lamlj to S. D. rams 26/8, 2 4 and 6tooth ewes in lamb to Romany rams 24/1; Hoggets (best) 15/-; small hoggets 11/5; Stud Southdowne ewes in lamb 34 gns.; Stud Southdowne ram hoggets 3gns; Stud Southdowne ewe hoggets 29/-; f. m. Southdown rams 2gns; fat and forward, ewes 21/3." Cattle: Forward bullocks (best) £ll, 11/12/ 0; lighter £lO 10s; 3 year old bullocks £8 os; 2J year steers £6 14s 6d; yearling steers £4 Is 6d; 2syear heifers in calf to Hereford bull £6; 2 year-old dairy heifers in calf £4 10s; yearling heifers £2 15s; forward empty cows £4 18s 6d; breedirtg cows'in calf to ;S. H. .bull £4 1.55, and £5 8s;.2year old bulls £5 7s6d; and £6 ss; store cows £2 16s, and £3 10s 6d; weaners 33/-. Horses: Aged draught mares and geldings (heavy) £27, £3O 10s, £3l; light £l9 10s, £2l, £23; unbroken ghts £9 10s, £l2 10s; hacks and harness horses £4 ss, £6 to £l2 10; throughbred brood mares £l6, £l7 10s to £35; 3 year-old mares and geldings by "Gold Crest" £ll, £l2 40s, £l7 10s to £2l; horses in training "Elevate" (Elevation-Jnlie) £49 ; "Borsil" ,(Boris~Silverlene) £3O; 'Negative" (Birkenhead-Film) £3O. Implements and sundries all aade good prices.
THE TALLOW MARKET. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house, unde.v date 30th inst.:— quote present spot values for the following descriptions: Fine mutton, 355" 6d per cwt.; good beef, 34s 3d per cv t.; mixed, 31s per lewt. The market is firm with an upward tendency.
