THE FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.
.It is pleasing to note that the Friendly Societies of Mastevton intend making an organised effort to raise funds for tho relief of the wounded soldiers. These Societies are composed largely of working men, who are already making personal sacrifices, owing to the high cost of living. If these people, out of their limited resources, can afford to give financial aid to the wounded, what ought the settlers of the Dominion to do in the matter? We, have been giving in thousands in
the Wairarapa, but the resources of the district have hardly yet been touched. And what are the Hawke's Bay settlers doing?
