SHEFFIELD SHIELD MATCH

In the Sheffield Shield match, New South Wales v. South Australia, the latter made 281 in their second innings. New South "Wales followed with 307, Macartney 117, Trumper 20, Andrews 43, Barbour 52, and Folkard (not out) 25, being the chief scorers. Bowling: Crawford, five for B'>; Kirkwood, three for 76; Rundcll, one for 61.
South Australia, in their second innings, have lost seven wickets for 183 runs, the chief scorers being Mayne 68, Moyes 41, Crawford 41. and Pellew 23.
SATURDAY'S MATCHES
Unfavourable woutbxv ccnuitions prevailed for Saturday's cricket matches, and play- had not gone very far when sftumps were drawn, on account of-heavy .rain. Cricket, in common with other outdoor games, is suffering considerably this season in consequence of the inclement weather, In Saturday's games, Mastertbn A and Masterton B were pitted against each other, the formed being disposed in the first innings for 92, C. Perry (not out) 25, R. Hickson 20, and E; Perry 10, being the only batsmen to reach double figures. Bowling honours were divided between Iggulden, Jordan and Oongdon. In the Carton A v. Carlton B match the B's made a good stand, scoring 159 runs fox the loss of five wickets, E. Welch 23, Mowlem 4.1, F. P. Welch 25, H. Midler (not out) 29, and W. Darvill (not out) 24, being the chief contributors. If Saturday's form is maintained, Carlton B'should have a substantial lead in the first innings. At the commencement of play, the wickets were in "fair though rather inclined td bo dead. The details are as follow:
