AMUSEMENTS.

THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURE!. "THE BLIND MOTHER." A large and appreciative audience wasi present, at the T.P. Electric Theatre last evening, when a partial change of programme was screened. "Tho > Blind Mother," the- main feature on the bill, was an excellent feature. It illustrated a man's cowardice iu trying to slander a young lady who refused to countenance his attentions to her. His plans, hoHvcver, were ultimately successfully frustrated by her blind mothef. The picture has a fine moral and specially appeals to the gentler sex. Another big feature was "The Pardon," which also proved a popular number. "Dad's Little Girl" was a rather tearful storv of an incident in a poor working man's life. "His Redemption" was a prison story, showing how a cracksman reformed. A pathetic story was unfolded in "The Blind Composer's Dilemma," while "Rounding up the Counterfeiters" provided a sensational detective play. Several other interesting pictures included "Snow Sports in Europe," "N.Z. Kauri Forest," "Bob Builds a Boat' and "The Girl in the Net Room" (a Pearl White, comedy). This programme will be screened for the last time to-night. For Wednesday's change, the latest Vita scope production "The Black Snake," will be shown. This feature is 3500 feet long. "80-PEEP" PANTOMIME. I TO-NIGHT. To-night will see the initiation here of a pantomime season by the Royal Pantomime Company, which has been engaged for a tour of New Zealand by Messrs George £K*phenson and Alf Lhley. The opening production will be "80-Peep " w.th which Mr Stanley McKay has scored an undoubted success in \ustralia, his company having nlayed it for three years in the various States there, "it is claimed for this "parcel of fun and fnyolitv" tint it will be staged and dns=ul in a manner equal to anything e'er seen here previously. No expense has been spared in re-fitting the company, which numbers over 50 performers, new -and. elaborate costumes having made for the tour by Zenda, of Sydney, whose designs are said to be exceptional. The dressing will bo on a most lavish scale. Scenen has been specially painted, that well-kndwn artist, Mr Harry Whaite, being given a freehand to produce something quite out of the ordinary, and that he has succeeded, playgoers will be able to judge for themselves in the transformation scene in ' "80-Peep"—the "Four SeWHis"—into which the best work that has come from the artist's brush has been put in. The miisic contains much of the "catchy" order, and the musical numbers have caught on everywhere they have been sung, and are considered superior to those in many recent musical comedy successes. ' Mr Harry Taylor, the musical director, has composied most of them and they maintain his reputation as a popular song writer. The season here will bo limited to one night, as tho oompany is due to return to Australia shortly to take up its regular engagements. The box plan wears a prosperous look at the Dresden, and those desirous of getting a. good seat should book early, and thus avoid disappointment at the doors.
