"SHODDY" FOOTWEAR.
It will, no doubt, come as a shock to 'the working classes'in New Zealand to find that the Massey Government, i which, is providing homes for the workers, pensions for military veterans, and land for the landless, should add still further to its humanitarian crimes by introducing legislation to prevent shoddy footwear from being palmed upon the guileless public as leather. The workers of the Dominion have been exploited for years past .by tne introduction of cardboard "boots and shoes, which have been fl sold by some of the less scrupulous traders as the real article. The Bill now before Parliament provides that the quality of the footwear offered shall be clearly stated, so that, tho people may not be deceived. So.vinuch.. for"" the beastly. Conservative* "Government that ! " is" ; legislating.,solely for • the squatters!
