Inspector • A*. B» Charters, of the Wellington Education Board, was in Masterton yesterday. His Honor Mr Justice Chapman returned to Wellingtbn from Masterton yesterday afternoon. Mr Ellis, a 1 relieving teacher for the Grey town High School, takes up his duties on October Ist. A London cable announces the death of Mr Hely Hutchinson, formerly Governor of Cape Colony. Mr D. M. (Mcintosh, ; the wellknown riiie-shot, is at present oh a visit to Masterton from Oamaru. The Wanganui Presbytery has nominated the Rev. A. Grant, of Dannevirke, as Moderator of the General Assembly in 1914. „ Mr W. S. L. Dickson, who, for the past two years has acted as secretary of the Wairarapa Amateur Athletic Club, has resigned from that position. Miss Marian Elizabeth Hardley, of the nursing Staff of the Palmerstbn North hospital,; has succumbed to an attack of typhoid fever. Her parents reside at Hawera.
A Sydney Sun special cable announces the death of Sir Albert De Rutzen, Chief Magistrate of the London Police Courts since 1901, at the age of 82. Mrs Harrison Lee Cowie, who has been lecturing in "tie interest of the Temperance cause in New - South Whales, for the past few months, and who is well known in Mastertan, returned to Bluff by the Warrimoo on Monday. Mr G. 'Miller, of Wellington, son of Sergeant Milleiv of Mastertoni, is spending a few days in Masterton. Mr J. H. Naylor, of Masterton, lias re-joined the well-known firm of Messrs Booth, MacDonaJd and Go., Ltd., and has -been a-ppointed their resident, representative tor :the rarapa. Mr Naylor will still be resident in. Masterton.
