LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIPS.
WAIKARAPA STITL UNBEATEN

The Ladies' Hockey Championship tourname-it was continued on Saturday in beautiful weather. There were about 1500 people present. The surprise of the day was the easy defeat of the leaders in section A by Wanga-; nui. The resurt3 were as follow: — j SECTION A. Wangamii (6) defe '.ted Canterbury (1). The first spell finished up with the scores one all, but in the second spell Canterbury were not in the running, Wanganui adding five goals- to their opponents nil. The local girls played brilliant hookey. Ha.wke's Bay (1) drew with Manawatu (1). Hawke's Bay had the advantage all through this game, but coHild not head their opponents. Buller \3) defeated Taranaki (1) after a; fair game only. SECTION B. Wairarapa (13) defeated Wanganui (nil). This was a ran over. Wellington. (3) defeated Southland (nil). This was the best game of the day in the B section, pome good hockey being witnessed. Eketalrana (3) beat West Coast (2). This was a close game, but was not responsible for anything more than solid play.
