The committee hag been most energetic in organising and arranging a week's festival that will be worthy of Masterton, and serve as a splendid advertise-nent for our town to the many visitors who will be here as competitors and sight-seers. The Competitions are very worthy of support from our townsfolk, and with careful management, and help from the business men and other residents, should grow yearly in importance. There is no reason why they should not, in become second only in size and reputation to the Balla'rat Competitions, and thus have a beneficial effect of a nature, that may in some v way reward the perseverance and energy of those responsible for their eontinunce. We woiild especially draw the attention of local residents, who have any musical or elocutionary ability, to the duty they owe the town and -the Society by entering, and thus endeavour to keep the lymours as well as. the prizemonev in-the town.
