A RAILWAY MATTER.
Tlio Railway Department hn s dor-id od that, on and after July Ist, th< AVairanpa trains to and from the To Ar o station, in Wellington, shall bo discr-n----tinued. That is to say, passengers from this district are to be landed at -the Lwnbton station, whether they like it or not. We are prepared to believe that a majority .of Wairarapi. travellers find* it convenient to leave the triin at the Lambton. .station. There are "nany, however, who appreciate the convenience of travelling to and from Te Aro, and Ave are sorry that the Department should . find it necessary to withdraw the privilege. section between Lambton and Te Aro may he run at a loss. There -are other sections of the line th.it are similarly ran. JBut in the aggregate the Wairarapa train service is .i profitable one, and there seems to us to be insufficient reason'for the cutting off of the To Ano connection. The Masterton Chamber of Commerce -nay have something to say on the subject.
