CARTERTON, fiur Own Correspondent. A special general .meeting of the Carterton Golf Club was held on Tuesday evening, the president, Mr W. Howard .Booth, presiding. Jt was explained that the meeting had been called to definitely decide whether to acquire the Taratahi racecourse for their links. The Racing Club Jiad kindly offered the ground and buildings, rent free for the. first year, and after that on terms to be- arranged, ft was decided unanimously to accept the Racing Club's generous offer, and to pass them- a vorv hearty vote of thanks. Messrs W'. H. Booth, H. Hart, R. W. Roydiiouse; G. T. Fenwick and B. Booth were appointed a committee to lay out the course. Mr W. Howard Booth was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for the use of his grounds during the past two years. Four mere connections to the Carterton Telephone Exchange are being made from the. Carrington Settlement. The Rev Mr Stand age, of Carterton, left on Wednesday to attend tlio Methodist Conference at Wellington. Mrs and Miss Stnndage accompanied him.
