FREE SCHOOL BOOKS.

j (To the Editor.) Sir, —I am sorry that you have nofc continued the agitation that, was started so vigorously in your leading columns against tho withdrawal o£ free school books from our schools. Is it that you have not received the support from School Committees, that you should have received? In April last the Labour Party schemed to pufe in a Committee of its own choice. I should .like to know what this Committee has done by way of protest against the Education Board withdrawing the concession of free schoolbooks. Has it' done anything? Only to-day I had to pay six shillings out of mv limited wages for school boobs and apparatus. Then we hear people counselling us to keep the cradles full. Bah! Full cradles and £2 8s a Week to maintain a family on and provide .school books! It's cruel?. —E am, etc., WORKER. Masterton, February 3, 1913.
