TASMANIAN LOAN
A FAILURE. .(Received This Morning 12.25 o'clock) LONDON, January 8. The Tasmanian loan is quoted at J per centum discount. The Chronicle is surprised at the result of so attractive an issue, and has greatly modified its views regarding the prospects of loans in the neajfuture. The Daily Mail says that the failure of the loan bears evidence that the public nowadays are satisfied with nothing below five per centum. Niaie Colonial loans, it states, have been floated since November, and only two have been fully subscribed, both of which were offered at five ner centum.
