New Zealanders are ardent worshipI pers of the "god of sport/' particular--Ily that which pertains to kings. In i the long run, they pay pretty dearly for the amusement. Every time there i« a day's racing within a hundred miles of Masterton (high days, holi'days and any other days) the train ' service* are disorganised, and people who wish to travel on business :\vo made to suffer all sortn of nnneeesisary inconveniences. "Tf whisky interferes with business, give up business," was a Scotchman's advice to his son. "We would paraphrase the advice by urging, "Tf sSportsi interfere with train services, give up J -he +'-a:n Kcrv.ces!"
