A STORMY GATHERING. SYDNEY. December 14, The Hon. James McGowen accompanied bv the Hbris. Holman and Griffiths, ' and several members of the Assembly, yesterday declared. Government House grounds 'open for the public. ■ • There was a large gathering of people, some of .whom proved extremely noisy. Mr McGowen's speech was, only partially heard above tire jeering and hooting* of the opponents of the Government's attitude in this matter. The speakers endeavoured, unsuccessfully to make themselves heard. Mr Henley, a member of the Assembly, delivered a bitter speech, condemning the Government. He was not allowed to he heard, and he hand*, ed his speech to the newspapers for publication. The proceedings were otherwise thati good humoured.
