WONDERFUL RECORD OF SUCCESSES ON TRIUMPH MOTOR CYCLES. At the H.B. Motor Cycle' Club's I sports held ou the Hastings Racecourse on. Boxing Day, iihe Triumphs> again' practically swept the board: ; Out of an entry of 12 machines representing 5 different makes the Triumphs secured ten firsts, seven seconds, and 4 thirds out of a possible eleven events-. i This performance is all the more I remarkable when it -is considered ] tihat the Triumphs' had to concede ] large handicaps to machines of equal i power and .six of the ten first maoh-1 ines were ridden by amateur ridem On Saturday, December 30th,' Mr j J. L. Braithwaite left for Wellington ' on his Triumph motor cycle to make an attempt on the existing figures of the Wellington to Napier recordviz., Bhrs 35miin., established by Mr H. L. Schaeffei? on New Year's Day, 1909, also on a'. Triumph. In spite of several attempts on other makes of machines, this record has stood to the credit of the Triumph for three years. Mr Brathwaite left the Wellington Post Office at 4.20 a.m.. on New Year's Day, and arrived at the Napier Post Office at 10.57 a.m., his time being 6brs. 38min., Towettfiftg the previous record by nearly <fcwo hours-. 'JTie Triumph ran perfectly from start to finish, the only two stops* being to take an petrol and oil. It is only perfect machines made from the finest material procurable that oan average 33£ miles an hour over 230 miles' of New Zeallland roads.
