The death is announced by-_ cable from London of Dr. James Oswald Dykes, M.A., D.D. A Press Association cable message from Fremantle states that Mr and Mrs Henniker Heaton are passengers on tlie Mantua, whicft has arrived, there. Mr Cornelius O'Donoghue, a Hastings publican, who was well-known in racing circles, died on Tuesday at the age of fifty-one years. Mr Gerald C. Branson, formerly of ' Masterton, or«mised a concert at the Napier Hospital on New Year's night. The entertainment was greatly ap- ' predated by the patients, and Mr Branson was heartily thanked for the kindly thought which had prompted him to organise the concert. At the Methodist Churdh, Lower Hutt on Boxing Day, the marriage was celebrated of Mr H. R. Robinson, of Pongaroa, to Miss Pearl Jenness, youngest daughter of Mr and Mi's G. L. Jenness, of Lower Hutt. The Rev. B. H. Ginger officiated. The bride wore a very becoming dress of ivory dhiffon ninon over glace silk, with pearl trimmings. She carried a handsome horse-shoe bouquet, of roses and maidenhair fern,'and wore a pearl and diamond broooli, the gift of tho bridegroom. Tlie bridesmaids were the Misses Lucy Heaynes, Lelia Heaynes, and Vera Jenness. They wore cream dresses and white veils,, and were the recipients of appropriate gifts from the bridegroom. Tlie duties of best man wore carried out by,Mr R. Robinson, of Mart on, whilst Mr F. Jenness was groomsman.
