Own Correspondent. Wednesday. A very pleasant ceremony look | plane on the bowling green this afternoon. The trophies for the President's Handicap and the Colts' Handicap were presented to toe respective winners, Mr H. B. Shaw and the Rev. W. 11. Spear. Word has been received by the Mayor, Mr D. Crewe, that his Excellency the Governor regrets that he cannot break his journey at Pabiatua on the 21st Inst. Arrangements are being made that the local bodies and school children assemble on the railway station to bid farewell to hisExcellency. The committee meeting of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association, which was to have been held on Saturday last, has been called for Saturday next, 18th inst.. at 8 p.m., -'m the secretary's office. j The funeral of Mr Michael Quirke will leave the Roman Catholic Church to-morrow (Thursday) at 2 30 p.m., for the Mangatamoka Cemetery. A meeting of the Pahiatua Football Club wili be held in the Com mercial Hotel to-morrow evening, at 8 p.m. Intending members are cordially requested to turn up to the meeting.
