Both victories were very popular, the owner being* a Palmerslon resident, while the horses are trained at Awapuni. Mr G. D. Greenwood, owner of /Armlet, Danube, Perle d'Or and ct'jei high-class horses intends sending'a team .to ■■Sydney to race at the Australian Jockey Club's spring meeting. Persian Knight, supposed to have . been purchased in Sydney for 700 guineas, by the Hon. Jl D.Ormond, is not to come to this country, as he has been secured by one of his for- : mer owners. • Nominations for the Marlborough meeting close on Saturday next. It is expected that a'number of Wairarapa horses will be nominated, and sportsmen from this district who have previously attended the meetings at Riverlands have spoken so highly of the manner in which they vjcre treated that Wairarapa is sure to be well represented at the coming fixture. At Hawera, last week, the Daystar—War Medal' mare. Queen's Prize, was sold for £3OO. H. Gray, with 49 wins, still leads the lisi of winning riders on the flat, while A.
