UNUSUALLY ACTIVE. RECENTLY IN VIOLENT ERUPTION. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, February 13. The steamer K'atanga, which arrived yesterday reports that the Savaii volcano at Samoa has b§en unusually active of late. A severe earthquake was felt in the group at the erd of January. The seismograph in Mulinu, Samoa, has registered several severe earthquake shocks lately, the whole of them being within a few milea of the group. On Wednesday the 19th ult. a violent eruption occurred, which lasted for a space of about 60 minutes. The'centre of the shock was probably in the Solomons.
