MAURICEVILLE COUNTY COUNCIL.
The monthly meeting of the Council was held on Saturday, the 29th January. Present.-—F. W. H. Kummer (chairman), H. J. Dagg, C. Forsberg, 0. Isakson and C. Churchill Jackson. Messrs Parker and Co., sawmillers, wrote requesting permission to make a second tramline crossing over the section of the Mount Bruce Road, which they have agreed to maintain. Schdeules of accrued "thirds" were forwarded by the Receiver of Land Revenue. The secretary to the Wellington Harbour Board forwarded notice re appointing delegate to vote at election, but it was received too (ate to be dealt with at a meeting of (he CounciJ. The Chief Engineer of New Zealand Railways acknowledged receipt of letter giving notice of termination of lease of stock paddock at Mauriceville Railway Station. After hearing Cr lsaksons' report re fencing approach to bridge over Ruamahanga river at Mount Bruce Road it was decided to expend up to £2 on thict work, provided the settlers interested subsidise it by a like amount, and the Clerk was instructed to notify Mr C. A. Wall to.that effect, it was resolved that all outstanding rates at 28th Fehruary, be sued for forthwith. With reference to Messrs Parker and Co.'s request re tramline, it decided to permit the crossing to remain as long as they maintain the seciion s of road according to the terms of the agreement with the Council. Accounts amounting to\£394 17s 8d were passed or payment.
