Received August 19, 8.35 a.m. LONDON, August 18. The absence of wreckage encourages the ownera of the Lund Line to believe that the Waratah, now three weeks overdue at Capetown, is still afloat. Received August 20, 1 a.m. ALBANY, August*l9. The captain 'of the tfannoekbum, which has sailed for New Zealand, reports that he left Durban two days ahead of the Waratah, in rain and a violent gale. Two days later the vessel was thrown on ner beam j ends, and was only righted after the deck cargo and coal had been washed overboard. The captain takes a pessimistic view of the fate of the Waratah, in view of his own experience.
