Very Rev. Dean McKenna left this-, morning on a health recruiting trip, to Te Aroha. During his absence, Rev. Father assistant: parish priest, will officiate. The deatiis of two well-known:, Dunedin men are announced—Mr Allan Holmes, barrister, who was a son of the late lion. Matthew Holmes; and Mr Thos. CoulL of the printing firm of Coulls, Culling and Co.
Mr James Barry, a very old resident of Wellington,, and.a member of the well-known firm,of Barry and M'Dowell, contractors, died on Saturday last, at tthe age of 74. Mr Barry came out to Victoria over--53 years ago, and* after spending a year or two in that colony, cameto Hokitika. Mr Barry next went to and after spending a year in that province, came to which had been hisbome for 48 years. He was a director of the Manawatu Railway Company, the Wellington Gas Company, and the "New Zealand Times" Company, and was connected with various other business enterprises. His wife . survives him.
