PERSONAL.
At Martinborough, on Wadnesday last, Mr G. McLean, of Hawke's Bay, and late of Tainua, Martinborough, was married to Miss M. B. Bennett, of Martinborough. Miss Broadbent was bridesmaid, and Mr M. N. best man. Mr Allan Holmes, barrister, and for many years a prominent figure in Dunedin golfing and cricketing circles, is dead. Mr Holmes was born in Geelong in 1545, and educated at the Edinburgh and Oxford Universities, gaining his degree at the latter. He was admitted a barrister at the Inner Temple in 1870, in which year he arrived in Dunedin.
