Miss Helen Emery, daughter of a Californian archdeacon, is engaged to marry Gungiro Aolci, a relative of Count Aoki (late Japanese Ambassador to Washington). Several thousands mobbed Miss Helen at San Francisco railway station, shouting vile epithets at her. There was an exciting scene. Newspaper correspondents finally rescued the girl.
