AN OLD MAN'S DEATH.
SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES. By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHUKCH, March 23. Suspicious circumstances appear to have developed in connection with the death of the man, Andrew Douglas flardie, aged 70, whose body was found lying outside a cottage near Dudley Creek, at Richmond, on Sunday morning. Ths body was removed to the morgue to await the inquest, which was to be held yesterday. A post mortem examination, however, revealed the fact that the man's back right ribs had been broken. The body was found with the head supported by a rolled-up Maori kit, and had evidently been moved •to the spot where it lay. At the inquest proceedings yesterday, the coroner stated that no such cases it was not usual to proceed without a jury, and adjourned the enquiry until this afternoon in order that a jury might be summoned, and to allow the police to make further enquiries.
