Speaking at the annual meeting of { the Imperial Federation League, he said that the British Government at present was a menaeerie of incompetence, and that the me.nbers of it were angels of incompetence, crowned with a halo of sanctimonious humbug. He only wished the Mother Country thought as well of the colonies as the colonies thought of the Mother Country. There was no doubt, he added, fiat colonials though' twice as well of Englishmen as Englishmen thought of colonials.
