BROKEN RIVER TROUBLE.
MEN RETURN TO WORK. By Telegraph—Press Association.. CHRISTCHURCH,. March 4. The trouble amongst a section of' the co-operative workers on the Midland Railway at Broken River arose from the decision of the Public WorksDepartment to discontinue paying dayrates of 9s per day, and pay Is 3d per truck, 'lhe men contended that if paid per truck they must receive 2s. per truck in order to make a living wage. On the assurance of the overseers that they would receive 9s perday the men returned to work today.
