COLOURED FRANCHISE. DR. JAMESON'S VIEWS. Received February 18, 9 a.m. CAPETOWN, February 17. Dr. Jameson, ex-P ■ iier of Cape Colony, interviewed, jjid a high tribute to the disinterested attitude of Mr Steyn (ex-President of Orange River Colony), at the South African Convention. He added:—"The coloured franchise will bs safer with a Union Parliament than with the Cape Parliament."

OLD RACIAL HATRED DYING OUT.

ADELAIDE, February 18,
Major General Downes, ex-com-mander of the Victorian forces, has returned from South Africa. He states that the T/an vaal is slowly recovering from thi depression which followed the war. The old racial hatred is dying out, and he believes the Union of South Africa will be of immense advantage to the whole country.
