Although the next census of the Commonwealth of Australia is not to be taken until 1911, preparations are being made for it by the statistical officers. It i£ 'estimated that the cost will amount to .£150,000, for which provision will Lave to be made on next year's Estimates. The department intends issuing material,for use in public schools, which will familiarise scholars with the significance of the census. An estimate places the population for March 31st, 1911, at from 4,421,000 to 4,500,000.
