HOLIDAY FIXTURES.
VARIOUS GATHERINGS OP IMPORTANCE. Those in search of a holiday outing for the Christmas season have quite a number of attractions in the way of gatherings to select from during the next few days„ The patrons of the "sport oSa. Kings" have two meetings they can attend, both of which are generally very enjoyable and successful, affairs.. The Lower Valley Jockey Club's meeting of two days will open on Saturday (Boxing Day) and conclude - on Monday. The acceptances are good,, and the outlook for a good two days' sport is very promising. The Ashhurst Racing Club's Summer Meeting will be held on Tuesday, and the Club also promises to. have a very successful meeting.. Those who desire to visit the latter meeting from Masterton can do so if they leave by the 6.30 o'clock train on the day of the races. The Mauriceviile sports on Saturday, and the Mangatamoka sports on the same day mean that followers of athletic pastimes will also have two most popular gatherings to choose from. Both clubs have received excellent entries for the various events, and there are prospects of really entertaining sport As a family outing both gatherings can be recommended. The Masterton Methodists hold their annual picnic on Saturday in Mr J. Macara's paddock, and this affair will doubtless be a by-attrac-tion for a lut of local people. East Coast residents will have the Homewood sports to cater for their pleasure on Boxing Day. An elaborate programme of events has been drawn up, and a pleasurable outing can safely be looked forward to.
