PETITION DISMISSED. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, December 18. A special court under the Licensing Act sat this morning to deal with the petition lodged against the validity of the Eden Local Option Poll: Mr Cotter, solicitor, stated that he would offer no evidence in support of the petition. The Court, in the absence of proof, decided to dismiss the petition,and affirmed that No-License was carried in Eden. ; Of the £2O deposited with the petition, the Court allotted ten guineas to the respondents, and £2 os Court costs, and declared the balance forfeited to the Crown.
