THE SEIZURE OF THE ALIX
EXCITEMENT IN VENEZUELA.
REPUBLIC TO BE PLACED IN STATE OF DEFENCE.
Revived December 15, 10.55 p.m. LONDON, December 15. The capturing of the Venezuelan coast guaraship Alix outside Puerto Cabello (a seiport of Venezuela), by - the Dutch cruiser Gelderland (3,9^9 - tons. 20 knots) has caused great excitement in Ven'zu^la. Some rioting has ta'<en place, .rGaneral Gomez, Vica-President, has denounced Holland's aggression, ■ and has ordered the Republic to be placed in a state of defence.
