A DEANS MEMORIAL.

CHRISTCHURCH, December 14. The Canterbury Rugby Union decided at a meeting to-night to vote £25 towards the establishment of a scholarship at the Boys' High School as a memorial to the late R. G. Deans, the well-known New Zealand footballer, who at one time was a pupil at the school. 'Ths Old Boys' Association, who are J taking the initial steps in the matter, asked for the Union's cooperation. A sub-committee was set up to re- j port on the question as to the advisableness of the Canterbury Rugby Union taking steps to commemorate the memory of Mr Deans by the establishment of a Cup Shield or trophy to be competed for in Senior local matches.
