A DESERVING CASE.

A LAUDABLE SUGGESTION FROM CARTERTuN. La'st evening we received the following letter from a well-known Carterton resident:— "Editor, Wairarapa Age, "Dear Sir,—Might I suggest that you open a subscription list at your office in aid of the widow and child of the shunter killed at Masterton on Monday. , Enclosed find £5 towards such an object." The donor desired us to enter the donation on the list under the style of "Carterton." We are pleased to fall in with such a thoughtful suggestion, and any donations made will be acknowledged in the columns of the Age, and handed to Mrs Knight when the list isr closed.
