ESTATE OF T* J. DWYER. A fleeting of creditors in the estate of Thomas J. Dwyer, phonographic dealer, of Masterton was held yesterday afternoon in Messrs Abraham and Williams before the Deputy Official Assignee (Mr W. B. ChSnnells). The following: creditors were present;— Messrs t?, G. Magnus (of Magmis, Sanderson and Co., Wei-' lington}, who held proxies also for Messrs Kirkcaldie arid Stains, Jnglis Bros., Kitto and iliafeam, and J. Harris (Wellington), ®. B. Robinson, representing Munro,- Clark and i Co., Auckland, P. Hoi ton' (Wellington), J. M. Coradine aiii M. CO'Connell. The D.O.A. said that he had personally had several transactions with debtor of a financial nature, and , felt it would be more satisfactory if the meeting were .presided over by the Official Assignee in Wellingtons He desired that the fullest investigations into bankrupt's affairs should be made, in order that his (the speaker's) attitude might be independent on the bankruptcy transactions, Mr Magnus moved that the proceedings- be transferred to Wellington, as there were fifteen creditors residing there as against a much smaller number in Masterton. Mr Robinson seconded the motion* The Assignee pointed out that he was quite agreeable to the motion* but a special resolution would be required,, that was, a majority in number of the creditors and threefourths of the value of the claim of the creditors present. On being put the motion was lost. It was subsequently arranged, on the suggestion of the Assignee to adjourn the meeting to a date to be decided by the Assignee,, probably on Monday next. ESTATE OF W. IGGDLDEN. A meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of W.. Iggulden, carrier, was held yesterdayjafternoon, before Mr W; B. Chennells, Deputy Official Assignee. Mr C. A. Pownall appeared for bankrupt, the proved. creditora present being Messrs W. Cameron, G. C. Summerell (for Levin and Co.), J. Cross, J. H. Pauling (Farmers* Implement Co.), Gawith and Logan (for Mrs I. Sykes), R. Brown for the Masterton Butter Factory. . The Assignee stated that he had had the stock and furniture valued, and the assessment was £3.1 5s lOd. There was a claim for rent of £22 12s. The amount of the secuiity of Mr John Cross' £6O on a horse, brake and harness, exceeded, in the. Assignee's opinion, the value of the goods comprised in the security. On the motion of Mr Summerell it was decided to allow Mr Cross to realise on the security himself, on condition that he abandoned any claim on the other estate. In his written statement bankrupt said he started in business in - 1899 without capital, procuring an express on bill of sale from Rouse and Hurrell, Wellington, for £56, and being at the time indebted for £IOO through his Eketahuna business. In 1901 he commenced a small' grocery business at Upper Plain, which proved unprofitable. The high price of horse feed had,. brankrupt said, been almost the chief cause of his baiiKruptcy, and he thought that had he been allowed to carry on for a while longer he would have been able to pull through without filing. Examined by the D.O.A , bankrupt said his filed - statements were correct, and he had tried alkalong to pay his debts. He was certain he could have pulled through with the advantages now to be gained to carriers through the low price of feed and the heavy crops anticipated. He had kept no bank account. Several creditors said they- were thoroughly satisfied with bankrupt's conduct, and that it was sheer misfortune that had caused, him to file. After discussion,, it was-resolved on the motion of Mr Summerell to hand the stures and furniture over to Mrs Iggulden on condition that the claim of the preferential creditor for £22.l2s(Mrs I. Sykes) was satisfied within ten days. Mr J. H. Pauling moved that bankrupt be recommended for his discharge.—Seconded by Mr Brown and carried Unanimously.
