SOME INTERESTING FIGURES. MELBOURNE, November 28. Mr Fisher, Federal Prime Minister, speaking at a banquet given by the manufacturers, and dealing with the question of the progress of Australia, stated that under Protection it was claimed that 21,000 employees had been added to the industries during the past year. The new Government he added, would give manufacturers every assistance they required in getting their industries protected and securing the whole of the Australian trade. Mr Deakin, ex-Prime Minister, said that during the term of office of the Government, trade in Queensland had inccreased by four million pounds; in Victoria by seven and a quarter millions; and in New South Wales by seven and a half millions.
