A COMPLAINT. Received November 18, 10.14 a.m. MELBOURNE, November 18. Dr Maloney called the attention of the Federal House to a letter he had received from a man named Massey, a third-class passenger by the steamer Bremen, who had been refused a landing at Adelaide. Massey declares he is an Englishman of English pa r entage, bound for New Zealand. The Minister for External Affairs promised to investigate the complaint. ■ FREE EDUCATION. Received November 18, 10.45 a.m. HOBART, November 18. The Legislative Council, by a large majority, passed a Bill in favour of free education.
VICTORIAN MINISTERS. Received November 18, 10.54 a.m. MELBOURNE, November 18. The State Ministers who had to goup for re-election, consequent on Cabinet reconstruction, were all returned.
A DENIAL. Received November 18, 10.40 a.m. MELBOURNE, November 18. The Federal Prime Minister (Mr Fisher) denies a statement made by Mr Thorn, Socialist candidate for Christchurch South, that he cabled to New Zealand urging the workers to vote solidly for Labour. He did not think; he was called upon to interfere in the affairs of a friendly State.
