The trip paid to the Old Country by W. Temple, ona of the most practical msn on the Borough Council prior to his departure, ought to prove profitable to Masterton, as Mr Temple has brought back a budget of valuable data in connection with v arious matters concerning municipalities, which will be available to the Borough Council. The remarks published in another column, in an interview with Mr Temple regarding a modern gas carbonizing plant, and also in reference to a destructor, are of particular moment to Masterton at the present time, as the Council are on the point of erecting a new gascarbonizing plant at a cost of some £3,000. If 50 per cent, in labour can be saved by introducing a modern retort system, and a thousand feet of gas more produced for every ton of coal used, then the Gas Committee should immediately confer with Mr Temple and make a recommendation to the Council on the matter.
