MANAGERS REPORT. At a special meeting of the Gas Committee of the Masterton Borough Council, held on Monday, and at which there were present Crs Elliott (chairman), Ewington, Haughey, Morris, and Pragr.ell, the manager of the Gasworks reported as follows: — j, I beg to submit herewith' a sketch iplan of the proposed buildings for the new Carbonizing Station on the railway site, which site has been duly "dazetted. The plan may be generally described as follows:—The main building, which is 72ft lorg by ■ 56ft wide, contains the Retort House and Coal Store, which latter will have a capacity of some 40 0 ■tons, equal to about six weeks supply :in the winter at the present rate of consumption. The annexe to the main building is 68ft lcrg by : 20ft wide, and will contain the accommodation for the stokeis, the machinery room, and the Manager's '•office. The smaller building contains a general store with access to the siding. A smaller store for gas meters >and brass fittings, also storeman's office, and a noting shop. The ■space between the ground level and floor of this building will be utilised as a pipe rack.
