New Stakes—Lord Nolan 1, Vavasor 2, P rkeo 3. Seven starters. Won easily. Time, lmin 54gsec. Metropolitan Handicap—Mooltan 1, Peru 2, Maranui 3. The nonstarters were Lord Nolan, Montrose and Svalin. Mood start. Passing the stand Monouel, Proportion and Lady Wild headed the field. Leaving the straignt Monobel and Prunortion were clear of Lady Wild and Fritzroy. Reaching .. the mile Eric went to the front from Monobel and Proportion and maintained a lead of a couple of lengths. Kyeadgerie and Plimder fell between the six and seven furlong posts. At the five furlong post Proportion joined Sric. At the half-mile Eric, Proportion and Monobel were in the lead, and the order was maintained round the bend. Eric and Proportion were first into trie straight from Mooltan and Maranui w.fi P«»"i coming f >-t. Below the distance Mooltan shot out in grand style, and won easily by two lengths. Peru was three lengths from Maranui. Cross Battery was never prominent. Steeplechase —Pilot 1, Confederate 2, Thelma 3. Thirteen starters. Pilot led all the way and won by three lengths. Time, smin 41sec. Breeders' Plate —Zilka led to the Straight, and then ran right away, winning by half a dozen lengths. Time, lmin lsec. Squatters' Handicap—War Star 1, Heiro 2, Claydon 3. Ten starters. Won by a length. Time, 2min Bfsec.

BT TKtiKaßA.nl —PRESS ASSOCIATION. HASTINGS, October 5. Interesting work was done on the course this morning, in view of the spring meeting commencing on Wednesday. Mahuta, Master Delavqland Master Soult finished six furlongs in the order named in 1.18. Castiglione finished several lengths in front of Berengaria over six furlongs in 1.21.' Nautiform and Elysian ended four furlongs together, after accomplishing the distance in any easy manner in 51 3-ssec. Comedian and Grand Slam covered a mile of the course proper in 1.49, the former being in front, but the latter was eased up over the last half-furlong. Others were out, but their preformances were not noteworthy.
Received October 5, 10.1 a.m. MELBOURNE, October 5. Pink-'On won the October Stakes, TUn at Flemington, easily disposing of i Tulkeroo and Lord Desmond.
