BRITAIN'S NAVY.
THE LOAN REPORT. Received August 19, 8.25 a m. LONDON, August 18. Discussing the statement by the "Daily Telegraph".-that the British Government is considering an offer of financiers to- find one hundred million pounds on nominal terms to meet the necessities of the fleet withcut disorganising the annual Budgets—the "Daily Chronicle," while considering the figure (one hundred millions) preposterous, favours the plan of announcing the financial programme several years in advance. The "Chronicle" says:— "It is important, by one means or another, to establish and declare the continuity and certainty of our policy, thereby creating conditions favourable to friendly negotiations toward a mutual agreement as to a halt in regard to expenditure."
DREADNOUGHT SAID TO BE OBSOLETE. LONDON, August 18. The "Daily Chronicled" naval correspondent says that the battleship Dreadnought is already obsolete, and that the new loan is to be spent on vessels of the Indomitable class.
