ENGLAND'S UNEMPLOYED.
APPLICATIONS FOR RELIEF. AIST INCREASE. LONDON, August 14. The Local Government Hoard has issued a return showing that during the year ending with March 90,059 persons applied for relief under the Unemployed Workmen Act-32,624 in London and 57,435 in the provheps. This numb'r was three thousand more than in the previous year. The increase was mostly in London, the chief depression being in the engineering. ship building, iron, steel, and metal trades.
